The Gardens
You are welcome to visit our beautiful gardens whenever the Hall is open. There is an orchard, herb garden, coppice, knot garden, public art, community growing space and plenty of seating and picnic areas to explore and enjoy.
About our Gardens
The gardens feature; a late Tudor style knot garden; a traditional 20th century allotment and community growing space; a Herb Garden; ornamental floral borders; a coppice and an orchard of historic fruit varieties.
The location of the original moat is highlighted by two wooden bridges, accompanied by the artworks of ‘Swans’ and ‘Causeway’ by John Kennedy. The Time Garden features the artwork ‘Timeline’ by Lesley Fallais. Over by the Barn is ‘The End of the Day’ by Angela Sidwell. ‘Peacock’, a magnificent bronze statue, was commissioned from Gertrude Hermes (1901 – 1983) in 1959 and completed in 1961 for Ordsall High School. The statue returned to Ordsall Hall in 2022 and sits in his very own bed.
