Our website has the accessibility software Recite Me embedded, which has a toolbar with a range of options to aid access. This includes a screen reader, options to change the colour and font size and many other features.

Parking:
D/deaf and hard of hearing:
We have received funding from Arts Council England to create a layer of interpretation in British Sign Language (BSL). This work is taking place in 2024.
Blind and visual impairments:
Ordsall Hall has uneven flooring and some low beams. We have spiral staircases which have narrower steps on one side. The height of the steps up to the Coat of Arms room are uneven.
The upper floors are accessible by lift apart from the Coat of Arms room, which is a reading area.
There are some stone steps from the Great Hall leading to the Star Chamber which can be challenging, but you can avoid them by taking a route outside.
We have received funding to from Arts Council England to create a layer of Audio Described interpretation. This work is taking place in 2024.

Quieter times:
In term time we have school bookings, so it is usually quieter on a weekday after 2pm, however do please contact the museum in advance of your visit on 0161 872 0251 or email ordsall.hall@scll.co.uk so that you can be advised when a quieter time to visit will be.

We have some non-verbal choosing boards which you can borrow on arrival.
