The museum is free to enter. Children must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
The museum is a member of the Visit England Quality Assurance scheme and is assessed annually.
There are four accessible parking spaces for blue badge holders adjacent to the museum entrance. Normal parking charges apply.
Our ground floor has step free access and we have two lifts to enable access to the upper levels including the attic. Only one space does not have lift access, this is the Coat of Arms Room. There are eleven steps to get to this room from the Great Chamber.
There are 4 accessible toilets with emergency pull cords.
A large print guide is available at reception.
Choosing boards are available at reception to help you plan and organise your visit.
A visit to our museum is a multi-sensory experience, visitors can touch, smell and feel the history of the Hall. You can engage with activities across the building such as:
Grinding and smelling spices in the kitchen
Setting the table with replica food in the Great Hall
Climbing into our replica string and hay bed in the Great Chamber
A selection of puzzles in the Frederick Shields Gallery
We also have a 3D map of the area in our Frederick Shields Gallery, audio soundscapes and a film introducing the Hall
We are a B.O.O.B.S approved venue for breastfeeding mothers
